Environment

environment iconTeam Haverhill’s environment-themed projects foster environmental responsibility and champion sustainable solutions for our city.

Improving and preserving Haverhill’s environment is a key focus of our efforts. We promote stewardship of Haverhill’s natural resources, from the legendary Merrimack River coursing through the middle our city to the woodlands and farms along the city’s edges. Our projects seek to build awareness of these resources, as well as promote environmentally responsible practices throughout our city.

Examples include our role in launching the city’s single-stream recycling program, Haverhill Farmer’s Market, Bradford Rail Trail, Clean River Project, and other initiatives. Learn more about these projects by exploring the links on this page.

Additional environment-themed projects include participation in citywide clean ups and the annual Haverhill Goes Green event.

One of our newest environment-themed projects involves the development of School-based Community Gardens. Team Haverhill volunteers assist Haverhill Alternative School and Haverhill High School in their community gardening initiatives. This work provides students with practical knowledge of climate, soil, and horticulture, and encourages them to live more sustainably by “eating local.”
