To celebrate our latest public art installment, we’ve got a full calendar of events to celebrate!
You can pick up a map for the “Shoe-la-bration” Self-Guided Public Art Walking Tour at all events. It provides locations for Soles of Haverhill shoe sculptures, plus 26 locally-themed murals, including the monumental Essex Street Gateway Community Mural at 25 Essex Street.
“Shoe-la-bration” Art Show

The “Shoe-la-bration” Art Show features the work of award-winning regional artists as well as emerging talent, and includes a display of the original design maquettes for this year’s shoe sculptures.

Location: Start your tour by picking up a “Shoe-la-bration” Public Art Tour map at one of four locations—Positive Images Gallery (53 Wingate Street); Haverhill City Hall (4 Summer Street, 1st Floor Exhibit); Buttonwoods Museum (240 Water Street); or Haverhill Farmers’ Market (40 Bailey Blvd., Saturdays from 9-1).Enjoy dozens of locally-themed murals and whimsical shoe sculptures celebrating Haverhill’s history as an international leader in footwear fashions.
“Shoe-la-bration” Pop-Up Museum Exhibit
Tuesday, Sept. 16 through Friday, Oct. 10, during regular City Hall office hours (M-F, 8 am to 4 pm).

This month-long, “pop-up museum” exhibit on the first floor of Haverhill’s City hall will illustrate how the local shoe industry evolved from individual “ten-footer” shops to full-scale industrial production by the end of the 19th century. Enjoy photos, artifacts, and hands-on exhibits, plus video interviews with 20th century shoe workers.
